Animal Advocate Honored and Recognized

At the December 4, 2018 City Council meeting, Alyda Richardson was honored and recognized as “Animal Advocate and Champion”. A Proclamation was read featuring her volunteer efforts and proclaiming the day as “Alyda Richardson Day”.

Excerpts of the proclamation read as follows: “Alyda Richardson has personally fostered and rescued many animals from Altus and the Altus Animal Shelter. She has also put together adoption events and fundraisers to find suitable adopters or fosters for many animals. In 2012, Alyda was a founding member of Altus Area Spay Neuter Incentive Program (AASNIP). Through her efforts and AASNIP, over 1,000 dogs and cats were spayed or neutered.”

“Alyda Richardson has been doing Animal Rescue, Foster, Transport and Volunteering for eight years in the City of Altus. Her dedication to Altus animals is unmatched, and through her love and actions, hundreds of Altus animals are enjoying life in loving homes. We proclaim Alyda Richardson as an Animal Advocate and Champion for the City of Altus, Oklahoma from 2010 to 2018!”

Following the proclamation and a standing ovation, she was presented with a plaque engraved with “Alyda Richardson, Animal Advocate and Champion, Altus, Oklahoma 2010-2018”. Alyda will be leaving Altus, to enjoy traveling around the country with her husband, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.
