1. What are the most common violations?

Tall grass & weeds, abandoned vehicles, and trash & debris.

Most of the ordinances regarding property maintenance can be found in Article VII (7) of the Code of Ordinances View Code of Ordinances

3. How can I report a potential violation?

Contact the Code Enforcement Office via email, phone 580-481-2263, or through our online system Report a Concern.

4. At what height is tall grass considered to be a violation?

12 Inches

5. I called last week, why isn’t the grass mowed?

If the city has to mow the property, it will take about 3 to 4 weeks.

6. Am I responsible to mow back yard and my half of the alley?

Yes, and you will receive a notice if reported

7. How many cars can be parked at my residence?

In the current code, there is no limit.

8. How many days will I have to correct code violation?

In the letter, we will state the number of days, typically it is 11 days

9. Can I park my car on the grass?

Parking shall be restricted to small motor vehicles and motor vehicles less than 22 feet in length.

10. What is considered a junk or abandoned vehicle?

At least 2 of the following: Expired tags, flat tires, broken glass, missing parts, weeds around vehicle

11. How can I file an appeal for a violation?

A property owner may file a written notice of appeal with the City Clerk within 10 days after the code enforcement action is posted. You should also notify the code enforcement officer so that pending abatement action might be postponed.

12. Can I arrange more time to correct a violation or make payments on a fine?

Code Enforcement will do its best to work with property owners to correct violation and/or establish a payment schedule.
