Pets are held for a limited time before they may become available for adoption. Contacting Animal Control quickly gives staff the best opportunity to help reunite lost pets with their owners.

Adopting from the Altus Animal Shelter gives an animal a second chance and helps support responsible pet ownership in our community.

Adoption fees may include services such as vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery, depending on the animal’s status and eligibility.

Oklahoma law requires dogs, cats, and ferrets to be kept current on rabies vaccination. Pet owners should keep rabies tags and vaccination records current and available. A current rabies tag, ID tag, and registered microchip can help Animal Control, veterinary clinics, and shelters reunite lost pets with their owners more quickly.
