✨ July – Haley Gilpatrick, Animal Control
The City of Altus is proud to recognize Haley Gilpatrick as our July Employee of the Month. Haley’s dedication and tireless commitment to the Animal Control Department make a daily impact. She organizes adoptions, dispatches animal control officers, manages intakes and transports, and quietly handles countless behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the department running smoothly. Her colleagues describe her as dependable, hardworking, and compassionate — always willing to put in the extra hours to keep animals and residents safe.

Fun Facts about Haley:

  • Grew up on a farm in Mangum, OK

  • Loves knitting, crochet, and binge-watching the Outlander and Stranger Things series

  • Favorite local spot is Fred’s Steakhouse

  • Describes herself as “stubborn, kind, and independent”

  • Best piece of advice she’s ever received: “Don’t pull the burr from the hair, pull the hair from the burr.”


✨ August – Lexi Smalts, Finance
For August, the City of Altus is proud to recognize Lexi Smalts as our Employee of the Month. During a period of transition to a new payroll system, Lexi stepped up to ensure employees were paid on time and operations continued seamlessly. She quickly learned new processes, managed them with accuracy and professionalism, and kept projects moving forward under pressure. Lexi’s willingness to go above and beyond shows her dedication to teamwork, reliability, and service to our community.

Fun Facts about Lexi:

  • Proud Altus native and Altus High School graduate

  • Married to Josh, with two boys, Elijah and Jax

  • Celebrated her 3-year anniversary with the City this August

  • Enjoys family time, coaching, and early morning runs at the Altus reservoir

  • Favorite local treat: Just Brew It coffee and fruit cups from Friends

  • Surprise fact: She’s one-quarter Japanese, with family still in Okinawa
