The 64th Annual Altus Quail Breakfast once again brought Altus community leaders to Washington, D.C., continuing a long-standing tradition focused on advocacy, relationship-building, and support for Altus Air Force Base.
For more than six decades, the Quail Breakfast has served as a key opportunity for Altus representatives to connect directly with federal officials, military leadership, and decision-makers. These conversations play a critical role in ensuring continued awareness and support for the 97th Air Mobility Wing and its mission.
Altus Air Force Base is one of the region’s largest economic drivers and serves as a vital training center for mobility aircraft, including the C-17 Globemaster III, KC-135 Stratotanker, and KC-46 Pegasus. The base’s mission to train pilots, loadmasters, and boom operators has a direct impact on national defense readiness.
Events like the Quail Breakfast help maintain strong communication between local leaders and federal partners, allowing the Altus community to advocate for continued investment, mission support, and long-term stability for the base.
The event is coordinated through a partnership between the Altus Chamber of Commerce, the Military Affairs Committee, and the City of Altus. Planning efforts take place months in advance and involve coordination at both the local and national levels.
In addition to strengthening military advocacy, the trip provides an opportunity to highlight Altus as a community, share local priorities, and reinforce the importance of the base to the region’s economy and quality of life.
City officials emphasize that maintaining these relationships is essential, as decisions made at the federal level can directly impact the future of installations like Altus Air Force Base.
Altus remains a proud military community, committed to supporting the men and women who serve and ensuring the continued success of the 97th Air Mobility Wing.
