The City of Altus, Altus Parks + Recreation, and community partners gathered Tuesday, May 19, for a ceremonial raising of the colors at the Altus Reservoir Roundabout.
The ceremony marked the first raising of the American flag on the new reservoir flagpole, which now stands 80 feet tall and flies a 30-by-20-foot American flag.
The event included a performance by the Altus Air Force Base Color Guard, with music provided by Blue Harmonics, That Altus Band directors, and members of the Altus Choir. Community members joined city staff and local partners to recognize the new landmark and the meaning behind the flag’s installation.
The flagpole and flag serve as a visible point of pride for residents and visitors traveling through the reservoir area. The ceremony offered an opportunity to honor service, community, and the partnerships that continue to support quality-of-life projects across Altus.
The City of Altus appreciates everyone who joined the ceremony and helped make the event meaningful for the community.
