2025 Altus Balloon Festival Brings Sky-High Weekend Back to Hangar 36

ALTUS, Okla. — The 2025 Altus Balloon Festival delivered a full weekend of aviation energy, family fun, and community turnout at Hangar 36 at Altus/Quartz Mountain Regional Airport on October 25–26.

Now in its fourth annual year, the festival continues to level up as a signature fall event for southwest Oklahoma—pairing the spectacle of hot air balloons with hands-on activities, entertainment, and a vendor experience that kept the airport buzzing from morning to evening.

Balloons, kites, and big “weekend plans” momentum

Throughout the weekend, festivalgoers enjoyed a colorful lineup of over 15 hot air balloons and the kind of up-close balloon viewing that makes you stop scrolling and actually live in the moment.

The event also featured kite programming with Great American Kites & Events, adding even more action overhead and expanding the festival’s “look up” factor.

Experiences you could actually do, not just watch

The Altus Balloon Festival isn’t just a “stand there and take pics” situation—it’s built for participation. Attractions included:

  • Tethered hot air balloon rides (weather permitting) Altus+1

  • Helicopter rides offering a one-of-a-kind view of the festival footprint and the surrounding Altus landscape Altus Events+1

  • Airplane rides, kite shows, and live performances throughout the day Altus

Family Zone + vendor expo = the full festival package

For families, the Up, Up, and Away Family Zone brought kid-friendly fun with inflatable attractions and space to play—making it easy to turn the festival into an all-day outing.

On the ground, the festival’s vendor footprint expanded again in 2025, with over 100 vendors offering food, crafts, and local products—supporting small businesses and keeping the experience fresh all weekend long.

Thank you to everyone who made it happen

Events like this take serious coordination—from pilots and performers to vendors, staff, and volunteers who keep everything safe, welcoming, and running on-time. The airport is proud to be the home base for a festival that puts Altus on the map and turns our airfield into a place where the community connects.
