Hours of Operation:

🔹 Reminder: All loads at the landfill must be tarped. Uncovered loads will be charged a $20 fee to help keep trash off roads and our community clean.

The City of Altus has issued a Transient Merchant License to Dobson Fiber, valid from August 19–21, 2025.

This license confirms the business has completed the City’s permitting process. As part of that process, the City has informed the business of community expectations, including respecting “No Soliciting” signs and resident preferences.

Mosquito Fogging Scheduled for August 14 & 17
The City of Altus, in partnership with Titan Pest Control, will conduct mosquito fogging starting around 8:15 AM on the following dates:

Thursday, August 14, 2025 – North Side of Altus

Sunday, August 17, 2025 – South Side of Altus

Falcon Road Reconstruction Project

Learn about the upcoming project to rebuild and widen the east half of Falcon Road to match the west half. A new sidewalk will be added on the south side of the street.
All are invited to attend, hear details, and ask questions.

The contractor has completed Zone 7 for the Bulk Trash Removal FY 25-26 cycle and started Zone 8. Zones 9, 10, 11 & 12 should put their items out now. Items to be picked up by flatbed service should be placed in the alley immediately adjacent to the resident's property line and should NOT be placed against, on top of or near a trash container or meter. Contractors for hire of any type are not allowed to put any items in the alley or containers. Updates are posted on the City of Altus Website. The City of Altus offices and departments will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, July 7. As the holiday approaches, the Altus Police Department would like to remind everyone that fireworks are not allowed within city limits. This is to help keep our neighborhoods safe for residents, pets, and property. If you are celebrating outside the city limits, please follow all safety guidelines: only use fireworks in permitted areas, always have adult supervision, follow safety labels, avoid combining fireworks with alcohol, and never try to relight fireworks that did not go off. Be sure to stay clear of buildings, cars, and dry areas. The City of Altus wishes everyone a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July. The City of Altus is hosting a Blood Drive in partnership with the Oklahoma Blood Institute on Tuesday, July 9th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the City Hall in the Main lobby (509 Main Street, Altus, OK 73521). This is a great chance to give back and help save lives. All participating donors will receive a free t-shirt and two tickets to Hurricane Harbor or Frontier City. Appointments are encouraged and can be made using the QR code on the event poster. Walk-ins will be welcome, space permitting. Let’s come together to make a difference!

The City of Altus is hiring a full-time Customer Service Representative II for the Utility Department. This role is perfect for someone who’s organized, friendly, and thrives in a busy office. Responsibilities include helping customers with billing, payments, new accounts, and service transfers, solving billing issues, managing utility programs like Average Billing and Air Force Waiver, and assisting walk-ins and calls. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in retail, cashiering, or a similar office setting, plus strong computer and communication skills. A high school diploma or GED is required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, pass a background check and drug screening, and may need to complete a computer skills assessment. Pay is Grade 11 and based on experience.
