Registration fees are $25 for ages 16 and up, $15 for ages 10 to 15, and $10 for ages 9 and under. A Family Fun Run is available for all ages for $10 per person. 🚨SCAM ALERT🚨
The Altus Police Department has been inundated with reports regarding various scams. The most recent report we have received involved scammers posting fake rental ads onto social media for homes they do not own and/or control.
In these scam ads, scammers may send rental applications and lease agreements by email, requesting application fees, rent, or security deposits. After payment, victims are never given access to the home.
💡Some tips to help protect yourself 💡
✅Do not send any money before you tour the property.
✅Do not sign a written lease without first verifying the owner or a licensed property manager.
✅Confirm ownership through county records or by requesting identification and proof of ownership.
✅Search the address and photos online to see if the listing appears elsewhere.
✅Insist on meeting at the property.
✅Be cautious if the price is far below market or if the “owner” changes phone numbers every few days.
✅Avoid gift cards, wire transfers, and bitcoin.
✅Use secure and traceable payment methods.
✅Be cautious when you see a "for rent" sign in the front yard on the ad photo. A lot of these are photoshopped into the photo.
If you suspect a scam... stop contact with the scammer and do not send money. Save screenshots, messages, receipts, phone numbers, and profile links. Report the incident to the Altus Police Department non-emergency line at 580-482-4121, or in person at the police department. And lastly, share this notice to help others stay safe.

**City Fly-Over Planned for this Morning! ** Cleatus McDonel and crew are planning the first city fly-over today!
