Our brother, Captain Chris Barngrover, is currently being escorted from OKC to Altus. If you would like to show your support and respects, we ask that you line the streets of the route as the procession comes through for his final ride through town. The ETA to Altus is 2 hours, so approximately 11:30am, on this date.
The procession will be from Hwy 62/East Broadway to North Main Street. Then we will be turning north on North Main Street and going to East Tamarack. We will arrive at Lowell Tims Funeral Home from there. We are asking to please NOT park in the funeral home parking lot.

ALTUS, OK – By order of the Mayor of Altus, all City of Altus flags will be flown at half-staff beginning today, August 25, in recognition of the passing of Altus Police Officer Captain Chris Barngrover.
Captain Barngrover faithfully served the people of Altus with dedication and honor throughout his career. This gesture is a tribute to his commitment, service, and lasting impact on the community.
The City of Altus extends its deepest condolences to Captain Barngrover’s family, friends, and fellow officers during this time of mourning.

Items to be picked up by flatbed service should be placed in the alley immediately adjacent to the resident's property line and should NOT be placed against, on top of or near a trash container or meter. Contractors for hire of any type are not allowed to put any items in the alley or containers. Updates are posted on the City of Altus Website. The City of Altus offices and departments will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, July 7. As the holiday approaches, the Altus Police Department would like to remind everyone that fireworks are not allowed within city limits. This is to help keep our neighborhoods safe for residents, pets, and property. If you are celebrating outside the city limits, please follow all safety guidelines: only use fireworks in permitted areas, always have adult supervision, follow safety labels, avoid combining fireworks with alcohol, and never try to relight fireworks that did not go off. Be sure to stay clear of buildings, cars, and dry areas. The City of Altus wishes everyone a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July.
