The City of Altus is flushing hydrants in different areas of town to push out older, stale water from the lines. When water sits too long without enough movement, it can cause discoloration, unusual taste, or odors. Flushing helps clear this out and brings in a fresh flow, improving overall water quality for everyone.

No Dumping Outside the Fence The large pile you see at Blaine Street isn’t from the roll-off containers being full — it’s from people dumping tree limbs outside the fence where it’s not allowed. 👉 All limbs must go inside the roll-off containers 👉 Nothing can be dumped on the ground or outside the fence When limbs are dumped in the wrong place, our crews have to spend extra time cleaning it up — on top of hauling what’s already in the containers. That slows everything down for the whole community. 📞Questions? please call Sanitation: 580-481-2251 https://www.altusok.gov/o/coa/page/altus-municipal-landfill ✅ Get updates directly on your phone by downloading the City of Altus App.

The forecast for this week is looking active. Temperatures will feel more like summer at the start of the week, with highs in the upper 80s, before cooling down later this week.

Rain chances are in the 30 to 70 percent range each day, with the best chance of showers and storms arriving Wednesday through Friday. Some of these storms could be heavier, bringing lightning, brief downpours, and gusty winds.

The drought monitor continues to increase across southwest Oklahoma, but the extended outlook is leaning toward above-normal precipitation. We’ll be keeping an eye on the skies and hoping for some much-needed rain.

Stay safe, stay weather aware, and have a great week!
