Congratulations to Assistant Chief Benny Barnes! Assistant Chief Barnes has successfully passed his Paramedic course and is the first Altus Firefighter to do so. Chief Barnes joined the team in October of 2002 and has held the rank of Assistant Chief since 2020. Benny is also a Registered Nurse and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. He's is married to Kara Barnes and they have one son Benson. We are lucky to have Chief Barnes on our team!

Our brother, Captain Chris Barngrover, is currently being escorted from OKC to Altus. If you would like to show your support and respects, we ask that you line the streets of the route as the procession comes through for his final ride through town. The ETA to Altus is 2 hours, so approximately 11:30am, on this date.
The procession will be from Hwy 62/East Broadway to North Main Street. Then we will be turning north on North Main Street and going to East Tamarack. We will arrive at Lowell Tims Funeral Home from there. We are asking to please NOT park in the funeral home parking lot.
